Artist's Comments
Our final drawing project was to use four sheets of bristol board and oil pastels to create a surrealist piece, preferably of something metamorphosing. I created a dog from a shoe. The shoe lace became a ribbon on the dog. I used reference photos of Airedales and Yorkshire terriers for the doggy. I purposely played with scale and proportions, and I enjoyed the subtractive nature of the media, using my fingernails to create wonderful furry texture. Overall I'm not satisfied with it, though I am proud of the texture created. Time and size was a big constriction.
